Committee to focus immediately on building IT community within Greater New Haven Region
New Haven (2/7/2001):
The Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce has named NewTech President Dan
Mezick Chairman of its Information Technology Committee.
“We are very excited about Dan Mezick taking over as chairman of our IT
Committee”, explained Tony Rescigno, President, Greater New Haven Chamber of
Commerce. “Dan brings an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm to whatever
he does, this will be no exception.”
The New Haven Chamber is a Regional Chamber of Commerce dedicated to building
the business community of Greater New Haven County. The IT Committee of the
Chamber includes Chief Information Officers and other IT leaders who are
influential members of both the Chamber and the greater IT community at large.
"I am honored to get this opportunity to make a positive impact in New Haven
County," explained Mezick. "This community service post allows me to offer my
time, expertise and resources towards the goal of building the IT community of
the Greater New Haven Region.”
Information technology has become a targeted area of focus for the Chamber
because of the enormous impact IT is having on the local economy. “The future
for IT and the companies involved in this region hold great promise”,
explained Rescigno. “We at the Chamber want to do all we can to improve this
segment of our economy.”
Mezick, President of New Technology Solutions, based in North Haven CT, has a
proven track record building IT community. Mezick served for 7 years as
Northeast Regional Director of Microsoft Developer Days, a technical training
event for software developers nationwide. He was instrumental in growing the
program from the original base of 8 US cities. Over 7 years, this annual
Microsoft event expanded to include over 133 international cities serving over
200,000 developers worldwide.
